How To Make Money Playing Video Games

How To Make Money Playing Video Games
There are many ways where you can make money from video games today. In this post, I will try to shed some light on some popular methods out there that have already been proven to work. Playing video games can be a lot of fun, but when we can earn an income just by doing what we are currently doing that could eventually replace your job through a passion for games, where a whole world opens up to us. Here are some approaches, which have already proved their worth, and which will have allowed thousands of North Americans to benefit from it.

Imagine, you already have a passion for playing video games, and you can be paid for it. If this seems to be good to be true and probably unrealistic for many, but the truth is some people already make a living from it. However, I want to make an important clarification here. The methods that I am going to present to you here are not made for everyone, but on the other hand, they have a good weight in the balance because they are very lucrative and as I said earlier, it is even possible on a short on a long time period to live on it just like any job. Everything will depend on your skills and your qualities.

Become a Video Game Tester.

video games tester
It's a fact that many people like you and I, are making a living testing new games that will soon take the market by storm. Obviously, for this type of profession, you will have to have a passion for games, but also you will need to be able to detect all the possible loopholes that this game may have. Video game testers must have certain skills to be able to analyze them well in order to be able to found and transmit all the bugs data to engineers and programmers involved in the project, those bugs will have to be corrected by the programming team before it goes on the shelves. The profession of a game tester is also very profitable since you can practically work as a full time for companies that are well known in this industry, companies like Electronic Arts known for so many sport's games, or there's also UbiSoft just to name a few.

Start a YouTube Channel

Start a YouTube Channel
Starting your YouTube channel has definitely become a great way to provide you with several sources of income. It is not a surprise that this site is ranking at position number 2 of the most visited sites, Alexa.  Also, YouTube is just ahead of Google by one position in the same chart. More and more YouTubers want to profit from advertising on their own channel. But yet, there are other strategies for all content creators as well, and not just for the video game industry.  Indeed, it is possible to financially support these creators through fund crowding. One of the most notorious sites that I know by far is the Patreon website created by musician Jack Conte and developer Sam Yam. Patreon allows registered artists to obtain funding from patrons on a regular basis or by created work. In addition for video game creators, there is also Kickstarter witch is another similar site that gives you almost the same features as Patreon. Finally, there is also the possibility of making even money from the traffic to your channel by incorporating in the video or video description some affiliate partner links like Amazon Associates for example.

Stream on Twitch

Stream on Twitch
Twitch is not only a platform that allows you to view or just a place where you will be able to broadcast your games online, but did you know that it is also possible to earn a decent amount of money here,  just by showing ads when you broadcast your streams via your channel's dashboard? Here's how it works. CPM is the “cost per mile”. The CPM represents the money the platform pays you for every 1000 viewers watching one of the ads during your broadcast. This price is variable and can be negotiated for each advertisement. The default CPM offered by Twitch is $3.5, so as soon as 1,000 viewers watch your ad you will earn $3.5. Obviously, before you can start benefiting from this lucrative option, you will first have to unlock the partnership with Twitch. In addition, it has been possible for you to be able to earn more money with donations from your audience. This is where a lot of Twitchers have the opportunity to earn a real source of income, even to the point of being able to quit your current job. All you have to do is create a “hall of donations” under your stream that lists the most generous contributors in a ranking. This will motivate other people in a lack of visibility to come forward. A competition between donors will start and your earnings will multiply! I haven't told you about subscriptions, sponsors, or even Amazon links yet. These are other possibilities that will allow you to earn even more money in your pocket.

Compete in Tournaments

Compete in Tournaments
On the Internet, there are also many websites were games players can test their abilities and compete with other players located around the world. In fact, many of those even organize tournaments where it is possible to win accessories such as game consoles, computers, and mobile devices, but also many of these sites allow you to win cash prizes. Obviously, you will need to have certain skills for the games that will be offered to you. Video game tournaments can also be done locally while the competition takes place on-site with a network of computers or consoles allowing game enthusiasts to be able to connect and share their passions with others. while they compete against each other for fun and of course, to earn a decent amount of money.

Become a Game Developer

Become a Game Developer
Being a game designer or a game developer is also another way to profit from the video game industry. By the way, several independent developers are more and more present on game platforms like that of Steam or  Itch.io. Have you created a game and would you like to share it with the whole world? With a few marketing tips, you could earn a significant amount of money as well. However, if you have no experience in marketing, you can use publisher service instead.  Now in that case, you will have to split a percentage of your earnings with the publisher, but it is still worth it. A few independent video game developers have already made a fortune with just one game. This is the case of Flappy Bird, developed by the Vietnamese Nguyễn Hà Đông. Released in May 2013 for the iPhone with iOS 6, and updated later to iOS 7 in September 2013, Flappy Bird earned the author on just on the GooglePlay platform more than $ 50,000 USD on a daily basis. Too bad the game has been removed from the market due to certain charges of plagiarism and fraud. But anyway, there are a lot more games out there like Undertale for example, which has paid off to developer Tobby Fox. So just keep in mind that it is possible to earn a living just by developing your own video games. If you do a search on Google and YouTube you will find many success stories.

In Conclusion

As you can see, there are a multitude of ways that you can profit from in the video games industry.. What I presented to you was just the tip of the iceberg. For example, I could still show you how you could get signed on an eSports team or how to work as a video game Journalist and how to earn even more money just by writing game reviews for others and finally I could also show you how to work in customer service for a hame company and earn more. The video game industry is very present everywhere, and the future is very promising with the development of new games, but also we only have to think of the new technological development that continues to grow. It is therefore with confidence that you too could profit from this booming industry. With a little willpower, talent, and ambition, you could definitely get a good share in this market.

Why is Retro Gaming Popular - What's Behind This

Why is Retro Gaming Popular - What's Behind This
Do you remember those days when you got your first console and played your first video game on a TV set?  I am sure this will probably bring good memories to you guys. For myself, I remember back in December 1983 when I got my first console ever, the Atari 2600 VCS. 36 years later, while the video game industry has changed immensely, I noticed a kind of rebirth of those classics. Actually, if you do your own research, you will find much retro gaming online community and the question we might have in mind is: why is retro gaming is so popular almost 4 decades later?  So what's behind this?  Retro gaming is simply another term that defines the classic gaming and old school gaming industry, where you play or collect older personal computer, console, and/or arcade video games in contemporary times. Retrogaming has three main activities; vintage retrogaming, retrogaming emulation, and ported retrogaming. Vintage retrogaming includes games that are played on the original hardware. Emulation, however, involves newer systems simulating old gaming systems, while ported retrogaming allows games to be played on modern hardware via ports or compilations. Additionally, the term could apply to a newer game, but with features similar to those of older games, such as a "retro RPG" which features turn-based combat and an isometric camera perspective. So let's find out why so many gamers still love that industry.

Retro gaming consoles
Recently I discovered how easy it is to get your hand on these games. Whatever you got them on EBay, or on some abandonware websites this is probably the number one reason why people want them so badly and some collectors are even willing the pay the price to obtain what they want. The ease of accessibility for emulators and retro consoles with built-in games also has increased the popularity of retro gaming. Playing older games not only brings good memories, but they are still fun to play even if the graphics and sounds capabilities were limited.  I think the key of any good popular games is remaining in the fact that it still challenging and fun to play.

Retro gaming characters
Now, playing video games from the '80s and the '90s is not something bad at all and it is certainly not because retro gamers are hiding from the new technology of the 21st century. Of course, some people somehow will probably not be interested in the actual market and they will just stick with those vintage products, but like I said it's mainly because people like myself still love the old gaming styles(even if sometimes I love some of the newest game, I do love retrogaming anyway.). Not only retro gaming consoles are popular, but I have noticed that many people are into the old-school programming as well witch also mean all the 8-bit machines such as the Commodore Vic-20, C64, Atari line computers, Texas Instrument TI99, and even the old PC MS-DOS are all under the retro spot.

Retro gaming Donkey Kong characters
So there is a huge resurgence in vintage items and memorabilia, and with that forgotten names like Atari, SNES, SEGA Mega Drive, and Gameboy were once again thrust into the public over 30 years later. So what we need to understand is the market is there even if we have the impression that young people are more interested in the new popular consoles such as the Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and Switch, I think the market will probably stay stronger for a few decades. Plus, if you remember back a week ago, I already post an article on this blog titled: "Are 2D Games Still Popular in 2020?" You may probably want to check this out as well because many new two-dimensional games are inspired by the old generation of gamers.

Why is Retro Gaming Popular? Simply because many people around the world like to play them and also because they are easier to find. In some cases, many abandonware websites even allow you to download them for free, so if you have an emulator for an older console or computer then you will be more than happy to learn more about this by doing your own search on Google. Happy Goohling!

How video games changed the world

how video games changed the world
Charlie Brooker dominated Channel 4's Saturday night schedule where he looks at 25 of the most influential video games ever made. Video games still remain in a weird liminal zone between fan culture and mainstream understanding. By following Brooker theory, let's find more about how today the world is constantly changing face to the video game industry.  First, what we need to know is in the earlier '70s, video games were seen as a waste of time, do what happened to this industry? Why playing video games became so popular? Do you know some people like you and I are currently making a decent amount of money just by playing some video games? Awesome right? So let's dig in and find how an why the industry became more popular than the music and film industry combined together.

Victoria Szabo
Victoria Szabo, a visual studios professor and co-director of Duke’s Greater Than Games Lab, has been studying digital places and spaces and systems that take advantage of games, mobile devices, and other media to enrich history and culture. Victoria says that video games play a huge part of contemporary culture and society and according to her study, she says that the video game industry is just starting to appreciate the potential that video games have for creative and critical expression. So this is only the tips of the Iceberg. She also mentioned 4 reasons why video games have the potential to change the world.

Gamer
Collaborative quests are a great way to practice for real-world group activities. Just think of World of Warcraft. That's the kind of game that tends to demonstrate this and it teaches people leadership skills. For example, the players in this game have to coordinate with diverse groups of people from around the world to come together and complete a task. It also involves recognizing and working with your strengths and playing collaboration and team games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and World of Warcraft are also a great way to build your leadership skills she said.

Video game industry
The second reason she invokes is a great discovery made by researchers that work on video games. Well in this case they have discovered that despite the potential to explore new identities, video games tend to prefer playing as themselves. This opens up a lot of space for online training programs but it also includes some work-group collaborations remotely. This is how so many serious gaming get involved in some activities like online therapy and conflict negotiation. There are lots of companies that now have online training programs. In other words, gamers became not only passionate about gaming but they became experts in those fields as well.

Video game consoles
The next reason is gamification using quests, badges, and other concepts. Victoria sais that those elements are a great way to introduce milestones and work on goal setting. She also mentions that all the games that will use these strategies are a great way to introduce task-based learning as well as work and skill development. When using those task and strategies in video games they tend to bring more fun into what might otherwise be conceived as boring work.

And finally, according to the study and like I said earlier, video games make more money than Hollywood entertainment when they release and there are often long pre-order schedules and players waiting to get their hands on the newest game. This shows that video gaming is a huge industry.

Anyway, there are probably more reasons why the gaming industry is so popular, especially in the last two decades with the introduction of mobile devices. I do believe that the people who are interested in this market should invest time, effort and money so they could make a living easiely. It's a matter of passion, where you can work and have some fun doing so.

Which Classic Video Game Character Are You?

Which Classic Video Game Character Are You?
It's amazing to see how far video games have come. If we go back to the '80s, no one could imagine how some video games started. In fact, they started with just an idea in mind with a bunch of animated pixels called sprites. These sprites, however, also include some of our best characters. For example, from Duncky Konk The Mario franchise was born. Just think about Mario Bros and even Super Mario Bros games. What about Zelda and even Sonic? We all know these characters since our childhood, and 30 years later those characters also evaluate with the technology.  Everyone's favorite portly plumber used to look like a pointy-nosed old man. Now he looks like a well-defined mustachioed hero. Character's like Princess Zelda, Kirby, and even Lara Croft, saw the same treatment. But what if you were one of those characters? Witch of the classic video game character are you? I know this iss crazy to think about that, but if we take a moment we will find that retro and classic games aren't just defined as NES and Sega Genesis anymore. Even some titles from the Playstation and Nintendo 64 eras could be considered classic by today's standards. So let's check out this little interesting quiz and see what it will say. So let see what type of video character fit the best for your personality. So this quiz will allow you to test your personality and see which retro character you best represent! Are you ready?

So check out the full quiz by visiting this page and just follow the instructions. I am pretty sure you will have some fun doing so. They will ask you some questions like What's your favorite fruit? Again just check this out and let us know in the comments what are your results. As for myself according to my answers, my character is Sonic. So let us know, we are waiting for your comments.

Are 2D Games Still Popular in 2020?

Are 2D Games Still Popular in 2020?
In 2020, the video game industry is full of new releases. Whatever if you are a game designer working for a 3A game company, or even if you are just an indy game developer, chances are you probably ask this question yourself: are 2D games still popular in 2020? The answer might surprising because actually 2D games are more popular than ever before starting with the retrogaming industry. Thankfully, 2D gaming later saw a resurgence in the industry,  and with most of these AAA series receiving 2D (or at least 2.5D) entries. Just think of these popular indie games like Nuclear Throne, Hyper Light Drifter, and also Super Meat Boy! Those 2D video games pave the way forward for what was nearly a lost art. Even if some blockbusters like Red Dead Redemption 2, Fortnite, and Overwatch seems to dominate the market, there will always be a place for 2D pixel art somehow.

2D Game
We have to remember that a video game is still an electronic game that involves interaction with a user interface to generate visual feedback on a two- or three-dimensional video display devices such as a touchscreen, virtual reality headset or a monitor/TV set. So to me, it will always be fun to play even with older or new types of video games as long they are challenging. Since the 1980s, video games have become an increasingly important part of the entertainment industry, and whether they are also a form of art is a matter of dispute. If you pay attention, you will find à lot of new 2D games out there, plus the development of those games requires less computer or consoles resources, and this means less programming knowledge as well.

2D Platform Game
2D video games will always be part of our industry simply because they are still fun to play even after 30 years you will always find some classics such as Pac-Man or Dunkey Kong around. Speaking of Dunkey Knong, did you know that this is how the Mario character was introduced to the public. In fact, many platform games were also inspired since the birth of the Mario Legacy. Actually, if you do a search on  Google or even on YouTube with any terns that include the retrogaming or the retro games keywords, then you might be surprised about the number of websites, blogs, and vlogs that actually talk about this subject.

Retro Gaming
2D games will always have a special place in people's heart and I believe we will not be able to get rid of those simply because it still has great value. And YES it will always be fun to play games such as Activision River Raid on the Atari 2600 VCS, or do you remember when we were plying Konbat? This is the kind of memories that I will always remember, especially when I got my first computer, which was a Commodore Vic-20 on were I start involved in programming. Also one of the 2D game that still fun to play is Breakout even if the graphics are not like they are today, these games will always be somehow in people's hearts.

The New THEVIC20 (Commodore VIC-20) Let's Check This Brand New Retrogaming Console

The New THEVIC20 (Commodore VIC-20) Let's Check This Brand New Retrogaming Console
If we go back in the earlier '80s, Commodore Business Machines released a small computer dedicated to the whole family for less than $400US. You guessed that was the Commodore Vic-20, also known as the Commodore VC-20 in Germany(the name has changed due to the VIC bomb) and also the same computer was released under the name Vic-1001). Actually, the Vic-20 was my first computer ever where I've learned how to become a programmer using the old BASIC programming language. The VIC-20 was announced in 1980, roughly three years after Commodore's first personal computer, the PET. The VIC-20 was the first computer of any description to sell one million units worldwide. But today, the computer was kind of brought back to life from a company named Retro Games LTD and if you lived in the UK you can still place a pre-order on Amazon UK since the 30th of June 2020 while the official release will be only in Oct 23rd, 2020 on the whole European continent, a possibly a year later in North America. So let's check it out and see what we have here.

THEVIC20 game carousel
The New THEVIC20 is a replica of the old Commodore Vic-20, except this is not the real thing here, because what we have here is an emulated machine within a similar design which includes the case and keyboard. At first glance, you would probably not see any difference between the old and the new ones. In fact, it's mainly what's inside that is different, So you won't be able to find any of the old components such as a MOS6502 microprocessor as an example, but the good part about that new Vic-20 is it look and feel like its predecessor. In other terms, THEVIC20, is considered as a sort of reinvention of the Commodore VIC-20.  So you will be able to find a full size with his own working keyboard, a classic micro-switched joystick updated that connects through one of the four USB ports of the equipment that we can connect to any modern television through its output HDMI.

THEVIC20 Retro Games LTD
THEVIC20 will also work using 3 switchable modes witch are: Vic 20, C64, and games carousel loaded with 64 games on it, and I'll like the fact that all those games can works in both 60Hz (NTSC) & 50Hz (PAL) display modes as well. THEVIC20 by Retro Games LTD also have supports for user-supplied games via USB Flash drive and you can even save & resume game functions as well and OH, I almost forgot. The firmware will be upgradeable via USB Flash drive too. Finally, THEVIC20 will comes with the addition of a new micro Switch joystick that you can plug into one of the 4 USB ports. This is how you will be able to gain control of your games and setup the computer. As I said earlier you can place your pre-order on Amazon Uk for £109.99 witch is about 136.47US. If you ever need more information, please check out the video below.
